Swingaroo is Preston’s longest running Vintage Dancehall. It was set up by Lorraine Swingaroo in 2010 and is still going strong. Come along when you tire of the twenty-first century and need to step back in time for a while.
We are predominantly a swing venue and the dance style you’ll most commonly see is Lindy Hop. Music spans from rag-time jazz right up to Rat Pack style swing from the 1960s. We also give air time to modern artists who have inherited the swing beat.
As well as our resident DJs, each month has live music and we aim to have a range of genres and eras.
We are often told by new visitors how welcome they were made to feel. This is what Swingaroo makes its number one priority. We love to welcome new people and want more than anything for you to have a good time and come back again! Don’t be surprised if someone comes over to chat to you or to ask you to dance. If you can’t dance yet but would like to try, we’ll try and get you started so you can see if you would like to go to some local classes. If dancing isn’t your thing, that’s ok too, as long as you are enjoying yourself.
Don’t be afraid to come over to chat to us too. On busy nights it can be all hands to the deck, but we can always make time for you. Everyone is friendly, so you can ask anyone to help you out, or simply come and see us at the DJ table or the front desk.
